Recently, the national group standard "Guidelines for Carbon Footprint Accounting of Oyster Shell Soil Improvement Products", jointly drafted by the Institute of Urban Environment, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Mata(Xiamen) Eco Co., Ltd., Shanghai Normal University, Sinochem Fertilizer Co., Ltd., Foshan Haitian (Gaoming) Flavoring & Food Co., Ltd., and Huaqiao University, was officially released.
The significance of this "Guidelines" is mainly reflected in the following 6 aspects:
1. Quantifying emissions: It provides a unified measurement method for the carbon footprint accounting standards of oyster shell soil improvement products. This helps to accurately understand the carbon emissions throughout the entire life cycle of oyster shell soil improvement products, from production, transportation, final use to waste disposal.
2. Mitigating climate change: By accounting for and monitoring carbon footprints, the main sources and scales of carbon emissions from oyster shell soil improvement products can be identified, thereby formulating effective emission reduction measures to mitigate the impact of climate change on the Earths ecosystem.
3. Guiding low-carbon development of the industrial chain: It provides a guiding direction for low-carbon development for enterprises utilizing oyster shell resources represented by Mata Eco. By accounting for carbon footprints, high-emission links can be identified, and based on this, emission reduction targets and strategies can be formulated to promote the development and application of oyster shell soil improvement products and supporting services.
4. Improving energy efficiency in the industrial chain: It helps identify inefficient energy links in processes related to oyster shell soil improvement products, thereby promoting the improvement of energy use efficiency. Mata Eco will reduce carbon emissions and enhance energy utilization efficiency by adopting more environmentally friendly and sustainable energy and consumption patterns.
5. Advocating sustainable development: The "Guidelines" are closely linked to the concept of sustainable development. By reducing carbon emissions, it can encourage the use of renewable energy throughout the industry, reduce resource consumption and waste generation, and promote the implementation of a global circular economy model. This contributes to the protection of global natural resources and provides practical support for global sustainable development.
6. Enhancing the competitiveness of the industrial chain: For Mata Eco and its related upstream and downstream enterprise partners, paying attention to and reducing carbon footprints helps improve the competitiveness and reputation of enterprises in the entire industrial chain. As consumers attention to environmental responsibility continues to increase, enterprises with low carbon footprints are more likely to be favored by society and consumers.
Our Vision is - "Building a global new oyster business model". By formulating and implementing the "Guidelines for Carbon Footprint Accounting of Oyster Shell Soil Improvement Products", Mata Eco can make tangible contributions to achieving a cleaner, greener and more sustainable world.
